Cracking resistance performance of super vertical-distance pumped SFRC

JIANG Jinyang, SUN Wei, ZHANG Yunsheng, CHEN Cuicui, WANG Jing

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2008, Volume 2, Issue 2,   Pages 179-183 doi: 10.1007/s11709-008-0018-6

Abstract: The mix ratio of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) was optimized using the principles that workability must meet the pumping demand and anti-cracking performance should be optimal. The effect of SFRC on the initial cracking load, the ultimate load and the crack width of the reinforced concrete (RC) member were analyzed in this paper. It was found that the admixture had good preservation of moisture and adhesion and the fibers distributed homogeneously in one hour out of the machine. According to the pumping results, the SFRC could be pumped vertically up to 306 m. Based on the standard computation formula of cracks, the maximum crack width of an RC member with 0.8% steel fiber (by volume) is about 32% lower than that of standard RC member. Through an experimental research on full-scale model tests for the steel and concrete composite anchorage zone on a pylon, the SFRC not only remarkably increases the crack resistance and the ultimate load, but the initial load also improves 33% approximately. It is also indicated that plastic shrinkage cracking of SFRC in which volume fraction of steel fibers is 0.8% can be restrained obviously and the unrestrained drying shrinkage can be diminished by about 50% at early age. The results confirmed that the SFRC can lessen the shrinkage crack of concrete and enhance markedly the direct tensile strength. Therefore, the SFRC can solve the key question of crack resistance for the anchorage zone of a bridge tower.

A combination weighting model based on iMOEA/D-DE Research Article

Mingtao DONG, Jianhua CHENG, Lin ZHAO,hbdmt@hrbeu.edu.cn,chengjianhua@hrbeu.edu.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 4,   Pages 604-616 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000545

Abstract: This paper proposes a (CW) model based on i (i.‍e., improved multiobjective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition with differential evolution) with the aim to accurately compute the weight of evaluation methods. Multi-expert weight considers only subjective weights, leading to poor objectivity. To overcome this shortcoming, a multiobjective optimization model of CW based on improved is proposed while considering the uncertainty of combination coefficients. An improved mutation operator is introduced to improve the convergence speed, and thus better optimization results are obtained. Meanwhile, an adaptive mutation constant and crossover probability constant with are proposed to improve the robustness of . Since the existing weight evaluation approaches cannot evaluate weights separately, a new weight evaluation approach based on is presented. Taking the evaluation method of integrated navigation systems as an example, certain experiments are carried out. It is proved that the proposed algorithm is effective and has excellent performance.

Abundance, spatial distribution, and physical characteristics of microplastics in stormwater detention

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2023, Volume 17, Issue 10, doi: 10.1007/s11783-023-1724-y

Abstract: Despite extensive research on microplastics (MP) in marine environments, little is known about MP abundance and transport in terrestrial systems. There is, therefore, still little understanding of the main mechanisms driving the substantial transport of MP across different environmental compartments. Storm events can transport MP beyond boundaries, such as from the land to groundwater or the ocean, as has already been discovered for organic carbon transport. Urban stormwater detention ponds are suitable environments to study the impact of stormwater on the environmental fate and transport of MP. Herein, we investigate the longitudinal and vertical distribution of MP within two detention ponds with different physical characteristics. Soil samples were collected at various locations and from multiple depths (surface and subsurface layers) for measuring MP concentrations using fluorescence microscopy. Our findings show that MP are retained more near the inlet of the ponds, and MP of larger sizes were found more abundantly near inlets than outlets. We also found that MP mass and sizes decrease from surface soil to subsurface soil. In the pond, where vegetation (grass root network) was more considerable, MP were found more evenly distributed along the depth. In terms of shape, the fragments were the most abundant MP shape.
